John Hicks writes..................................... Basingstoke's favourite son, Jon Honney, fought one of the toughest fights in his career to beat Reading's NATHAN WARD to become the new SOUTHERN AREA LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION.
Battered and exhausted, Jon still found time on his way home to call in to The Academy Basingstoke to show friends and customers his hard-won belt. He was greeted to rapturous applause and the dee-jay playing the "Rocky" theme.
